Governor DeSantis just vetoed SB2 that was passed in Special Session B, the protest session. It’s a good time to go back and look at that bill in detail and the voting records of all the controlled opposition RINOs who would rather push globalist open-borders policies than back Governor DeSantis’s immigration plans.
As Daniel Horowitz just posted on X, these guys are basically the Gaza “civilians” to Hamas. They look innocent, but they’re doing the same job as the people trying to destroy our state and our nation.

SB2 was cynically titled “Tackling and Reforming Unlawful Migration Policy (TRUMP) Act.” They were counting on Trump and his supporters to blindly support the bill because of the name. Daniel called it the open borders bill.
Before getting into the horrid details, let’s look at the votes. The bill was sponsored by Joe Gruters (R; D22, Sarasota and Manatee Counties) and Randy Fine (R; D19, Brevard County). Here are 11 other worthless Republicans that need to be primaried based on the party-line vote (12-6) in the Senate Appropriations Committee. (Ileana Garcia, R, absent)
Yes | No |
Jason Brodeur, R | Lori Berman, D |
Danny Burgess, JR, R | Jason Pizzo, D |
Jay Collins, R | Tina Polsky, D |
Nick DiCeglie, R | Darryl Rouson, D |
Randy Fine, R | Barbara Shaief, D |
Erin Grall, R | Carlos Smith, D |
Gayle Harrell, R | |
Ed Hooper, R | |
Jonathan Martin, R | |
Stan McClain, R | |
Jay Trumbull, R | |
Tommy Wright, R |
SB2 passed in the Senate (21-16) with 3 absent; only 6 Republicans voted no. The only decent Republicans in the state Senate are subset of this list of six. The rest are either shills for Joe Gruters or too spineless to be effective.
- Jennifer Bradley (R; D6, Baker, Bradford, Clay, Columbia, Gilchrist, Union, Alachua)
- Alexis Calatayud (R; D38, Miami-Dade County)
- Jay Collins (R; D14, Hillsborough County) *
- Erin Grall (R; D29, Glades, Highlands, Indian River, Okeechobee, St. Lucie) *
- Blaise Ingoglia (R; D11, Citrus, Hernando, Sumter, Pasco)
- Jonathan Martin (R; D33, Lee County) *
*These 3 voted yes in committee and then voted no on the floor
The House is even worse than the Senate. The bill passed in the House (82-30) with 7 not voting. Only one Republican voted no and one didn’t vote because he couldn’t be bother to show up for the session.
- Mike Caruso (R; D87; Palm Beach County)
- Conveniently absent: Chad Johnson (R; D22, Gilchrist, Levy, Alachua)
The petty Republican leadership in the House attacked Mike Caruso for being the only Republican House member to vote against the bill. Caruso referred to SB2 as a “weak pro amnesty bill” that was “intentionally created to mislead Floridians into thinking it was doing something that it wasn’t.” He said many legislators were told not to read the bill and just vote in line with leadership. In an X post, Caruso detailed the retaliation:
- Stripped of committee chairmanship
- Office was taken away
Why was SB2 so bad? Here are the main reasons:
- Makes the Commissioner of Agriculture the chief immigration officer and the sole liaison to entities regarding federal immigration laws
