–An educated and informed citizen with moral integrity is a powerful weapon against the corrupt forces that seek to undermine the values that formed our great nation.
Education & Parental Rights
The plummeting academic performance in our public schools is a precursor to the loss of individual freedom and self-government. Schools should focus more on reading, writing, and arithmetic rather than diluting curricula with ideological teachings that promote racial segregation, gender confusion, and the hatred of our country and its founding principles.
Individual Freedom
Our nation was founded on a greed that all of us are created equal with inalienable rights granted by our creator, not by government. Our social compact says that “We the People” are sovereign and government exists at our pleasure to preserve our rights, not to decide which ones we can enjoy. Individual freedom consists of all the rights spelled out in the Constitution (religion, speech, press, assembly, petition government, bear arms, etc.), but we have many more. The Ninth Amendment says “The enumeration in the Constitution, of certain rights, shall not be construed to deny or disparage others retained by the people.” We have the inherent fundamental right of self-determination and bodily autonomy and should be free to make medical and health decisions without undue influence from government or social pressure.
Healthcare
Perhaps nowhere has federal overreach threatened individual freedom that in the takeover of our healthcare system. From the National Childhood Vaccine Injury Act of 1986 to the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act of 2009, the trend is always towards more government control, less accountability for healthcare providers and manufacturers, and less individual autonomy.
Culture
Almost every issue in the culture war is intended to divide us by immutable characteristics such as race, ethnicity, and gender. So called social justice groups seek to undermine our society by redefining terms and pitting one group against another. Since our nation’s founding, we’ve always held that we are stronger together. John Dickinson’s “The Liberty Song” (July 1768) said, “By uniting we stand, by dividing we fall!” Before signing the Declaration of Independence, Benjamin Franklin wrote, “We must, indeed, all hang together, or most assuredly we shall all hang separately.” Those who want to fundamentally transform our society know that they key is to divide us in order to undermine our culture.
Diversity, Equity & Inclusion
While slavery was our nation’s original sin, we have made great strides towards living up to our founding ideal that we are all created equal: from the banning the importation of slaves as early as 1888 in the Constitution, to fighting a civil war to end slavery, to passing civil rights legislation to ensure equal treatment under the law. Sadly, race hustlers prey on our collective guilt and try to divide our nation while enriching themselves. Overtly racist policies like affirmative action have evolved into the malignant DEI which is embedding at all levels our society.
LGBTQ, Gender Ideology & Grooming
The latest trend in dividing our culture seeks to redefine truth and replace it with each individual’s own self-defined truth. People are using gender ideology to indulge in sexual fantasies in public and to harm or confuse children. They abuse our nation’s “go along to get along” attitude while they prey on our children and redefine the very meaning of womanhood.
Life
All human beings are made in the image of God, and therefore, each individual life is priceless and has inherent value regardless of one’s immutable characteristics. NDCAN advocates for the legal end of abortion in all forms and in all stages of pregnancy. NDCAN supports the efforts of pregnancy resource centers across the country who offer compassion and professional resources to women and their partners who are facing an unexpected pregnancy. NDCAN is against the legalization of assisted suicide. Voluntary euthanasia may very well not remain voluntary, and therefore we advocate for end of life care that is ethical, compassionate, and respects the value of every life.
Legislature
Knowing how the state legislative process works empowers citizens to make a difference on a local and statewide level. Participating in your legislative district is an underestimated, yet critical way to effect change in the political process.
