Need to push for SB222/HB305

Sorry for the long pause… We really need to get involved before the legislative session ends. Too many legislators are in “business as usual” mode and are squandering the massive majorities in the trifecta to really push a liberty-focused agenda and ensure we have the Free State of Florida that DeSantis likes to brag about.

1. Website birthing pains
You can see our new logo above (thanks Emily!). The FloridaCAN.org website is starting to come together. We have a couple of editors, but still need content providers.

2. Medical freedom bills need help
The bills adding vax status to civil rights legislation (SB222/HB305) aren’t moving. DeSantis and the legislators are hoping people will buy the “light version” SB252/HB1013 which are limited to COVID-19, rather than all vaccines. Perhaps the biggest evidence that SB252 is worthless is that Sen Lauren Book voted for it. In 2019, she introduced a bill to remove religious exemptions for vaccines so she’s no friend of medical freedom. Big Pharma shills can flex muscle in Florida as well as all the other states.

Here’s a column by Dr. Toni Krehel making the point:

Here’s a call to action from the Brooksville Republican Club using info from Health Freedom Florida. The video is too large to attach, but this link should play it: https://player.vimeo.com/video/818954128

(I’ll paste the text here in case the images don’t work):
1. CALL TO ACTION 1 – EMAIL/CALL GOVERNOR DESANTIS
2. CALL TO ACTION 2 – MAKE A VIDEO AND TAG GOVERNOR DESANTIS
3. WEDNESDAY, APRIL 19 – TWITTER STORM FROM 5-10PM

The “COVID-19 only” much weaker bill, SB252/HB1013, sponsored by State Senator Burton (R) is progressing.  SB222/HB305, the broader protective bills against current and future vaccine mandates, federal data collection and vaccine passports sponsored by State Senator Gruters (R) and State Representative Barnaby (R), are not moving forward – not without some citizen input.

3. Ruffling feathers
While Tallahassee is ignoring medical freedom, the Governor is ruffling feathers by attacking Disney (again) and signing a 6-week abortion ban. The latter is seemingly pointless because it cannot go into effect without the overturning on a Florida Supreme Court ruling or an amendment to the Florida Constitution (see the Senate bill analysis linked in the story). My two cents for free: DeSantis is getting dangerously close to pulling a Trump: riling up the opposition without really accomplishing anything.

4. Brownstone Institute
If you’re tired of getting your news from RINO shills more interested in the industry of politics than the advancement of personal liberty, check out Brownstone Institute. It was started in May 2021 in response to the absolute silence from all the supposedly conservative think tanks that ignored the government’s abusive COVID policies. You can sign up for a weekly newsletter at https://brownstone.org/

Daniel had a column there last week: https://brownstone.org/articles/long-covid-could-be-mask-induced-exhaustion-syndrome/

5. Adventures in Poop
Witnesses say that trans protestors were throwing poop and harassing Moms for Liberty members in Tallahassee yesterday. You should be prepared for BS when dealing with the politicians at the state capital, but apparently you need to dress for the real thing too.

Don’t turn on Fox News (or anything else) until you call or email DeSantis to support SB222/HB305.
