Ono… Legislative Letdown

It’s been a while since the last update.

Legislative Letdown.

The Legislative session is now done and was an even bigger disappointment than last year. You can read about some of the more important bills here:

(The page isn’t finished. If you want to help finish it or have bills that aren’t there and should be, please let me know.)

You Don’t Despite Them Enough.

If you thought the Legislature was trying to neuter DeSantis, you’re not mistaken. Here’s an article by Tracy Caruso (wife of Rep Mike Caruso, R, D87, Palm Beach County)
https://floridajolt.com/will-florida-rise-or-fall-the-speaker-race-could-decide-everything/

She gives the background on how Rep Danny Perez (R, D116, Miami-Dade County) weaseled his way to be Speaker. Short version: The arrogant, entitled POSes in the legislature expect to get reelected and serve six years so they pick the Speaker 5-6 years in advance.

You’d think that rule would be changed by all these legislators who call themselves leaders. This last session showed they’re just a bunch of scared lemmings who do the bidding of the Speaker because their positions in Tallahassee are more important than standing on principle.

Groomers Gonna Groom.

Just because DeSantis talks tough against the grooming of kids doesn’t make it stop. Just today Attorney General James Uthmeier warning of legal consequences for Alachua County Public Schools housing two biological boys in the girls’ cabin at a summer camp.

Keeping DEI Out of UF.

The entrenched progressives at UF trying to defy the anti-DEI laws and nominated University of Michigan’s President, Santa Ono. UF’s Board of Trustees voted unanimously to hire Ono. The Board of Governors grilled Ono and rejected him in a 6-10 vote.
